Custom Lockers for the Royal Automobile Club (RAC)
Background: As a longstanding supplier to the Royal Automobile Club (RAC) in Pall Mall, Garran was approached by RAC and Fitzsimons to provide custom lockers for their members. The lockers needed to be simple in design but durable, aesthetically pleasing, and complementary to the historic building’s décor.
Objective: The primary objectives of this project were to:
- Design and manufacture lockers that are both functional and aesthetically aligned with RAC’s historic interior.
- Ensure the lockers are secure with flexible programming options for the locking system.
- Maximize the use of available space to provide the highest number of compartments.
- Complete the installation within a reduced timeframe of two days with minimal disruption to RAC members, staff, and the public.

Garran collaborated with Fitzsimons to design the lockers, selecting materials and finishes that met RAC’s standards.
- After finalising the design, samples were created and approved by RAC and Fitzsimons. Material Selection:

EGGER Anthracite Candella Marble HPL was chosen for the doors and panels due to its durability and visual appeal.
- Lowe & Fletchers Zenith Digital Combination Lock in a black finish was selected for its simplicity and versatile programming options. Manufacturing:
- Upon approval, Garran proceeded with the manufacturing process, ensuring highquality production standards. Planning and Coordination:
- The installation was meticulously planned with RAC and their main contractor, Virtus-Contracts, to minimise disruption.
- Detailed schedules and strategies were developed to ensure the installation was efficient and unobtrusive.
